Peacock coal, or Rainbow anthracite, is colorful coal sometimes found in a coal seam by miners. It sometimes has a complete rainbow color effect. These are rare finds for the most part. If left outside to the elements for months or years, Blue seems to be the last color left standing.
Here’s a slide show of McAdoo/Tresckow quartz crystal specimens, as well as some shots of crystal collecting the locality. McAdoo is just south of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and quartz crystals of up to 20+ LBS can be found in the abandoned strippin pit there, which locals nicknamed The Echo.
